My guest cancelled the meeting but it is still shown as busy

Your calendar entries remain marked as busy unless you explicitly delete, cancel, or change them. This is how Google and Microsoft are designed, and your assistant will still treat those times as busy unless you remove them from your calendar.

While it is technically possible to check whether an event has attendees and treat it as free or available if there are no attendees - the absence of attendees and your intent to make yourself available are two different things. It would not be wise to program it this way, especially since you may want to block time on your calendar without meeting anyone.
