Do I really need to connect my email for a calendar app

Most calendars are “not compatible” with one another. (Please see “I do not use a Google or Microsoft calendar” for more.) When you cancel a meeting from, for example, a Google Calendar, Google will send an email automatically. However, it is not guaranteed that your guests will receive it, as it is not a “composed” email but an “ICS” email — especially when they are not using a Google Calendar.

By connecting your email, your assistant can compose an email to them with a short apology note and ensure that they get the memo. However, the choice is entirely yours.

Additionally, Microsoft and Apple may create a shadow Outlook alias behind the scenes — for example, when you register for a Microsoft email (Hotmail/Outlook.com) using a Gmail address, or, in the case of Apple, whenever a user chooses to do so. All of this increases the chance that your cancellation email may not be received. Please note that these are calendar-related quirks based on the calendar used, and MeetWithMe.ai is not the one introducing them.

As Google and Microsoft are the market leaders for calendars, some users may use a Yahoo email but want a Google Calendar and therefore resort to a workaround. This increases the chance that they may not receive your auto-generated cancellation email.
